PassTracker - How to Setup a Star Receipt Printer setup for Macintosh

Got a Star Receipt printer? Here is how to set it up to work with PassTracker on a Mac.

Locate Printer driver installer

You may need to download this from the Star website, or check in the PassTracker Support folder.

Double click the Package file, in this case, it is called the starcupsdrv-2.70. Your actual file may be higher.

Run through the Install process

Click Continue, etc until the drivers are installed.

Select your hard drive

Plug in your Printer

Plug in the Star printer to a USB port.
Plug in the power on the printer.
Load the paper.
Turn on the Printer

Launch the Printer Setup Utility

Located in the Applications: Utilities folder on your hard drive.

Click the Add Printer button and select the TSP743II printer to add to your list. At the end of doing this, it should look something like this:

Select the Star Printer and click "Make Default" icon

Download the status_off.bin file to your Desktop

In the Applications: Utilities Folder you will find a program called Terminal. Launch this.

2. Open Terminal and go to your desktop  

Type:   cd desktop and hit enter  
Next Type:   lp -o raw status_off.bin and hit enter  

it will confirm that it sent 1 file to the printer.

You will hear it reset and it will print a self test. At the bottom of the self test, the last line you will see Raster Status: Invalid.

 

Test Print from PassTracker

There should not be a delay when sending the print job to the printer. Also test print from PassTracker software. Go to the Sales screen, set the printer to Receipt Printer and click the Print button.

If the printer does not print nearly instantly, please repeat the steps above very carefully.

Remember to select the Star printer as the default printer in the Print Setup Utility.

When everything is done, set the default printer back to your regular letter sized printer.
