How to Restart a Mac Mini (with no monitor plugged in)

Sometimes it is necessary to restart the FileMaker Server with no monitor attached. If the monitor is attached, simply go under the Apple menu and select Restart. Otherwise, here is how to power cycle a Mac Mini, with no monitor plugged in.

Check to see that the computer is ON or OFF

On the front of the computer there is a small light on the front bottom right corner. If the machine is off, there should be no light here.

Turning on a Mac Mini

On the back of the machine, locate the power button. Hold the power button for a couple of seconds. You will hear a 'bong' sound when the machine starts up.

Computer Powering Up

On the front of the computer there should be a green light start to flicker as the computer starts up.

Restarting a Mac Mini

Occasionally the computer may develop problems that you need to recover from by restarting it.

To restart a Mac Mini, hold the Power button down for 5-10 seconds. You should hear the 'bong' sound as it restarts. Once you hear the 'bong' sound, you can let go of the Power button and let the computer start up again.
